General Summary:

 

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Skilled Construction and Tile Installer is a craftsman with moderate skill and experience level, able to work on job sites with multiple employees and trade contractors while also performing trade work on site in one or more key trades. The Skilled Construction and Tile Installer will do various tasks including trim carpentry, install flooring, framing out wing walls or shower fit-outs, perform demo-work, perform shower swap-outs, install tile with wet tile system, and provider other accessible modifications or installations on work sites. Also perform occasional basic service work on accessible equipment.



Responsibilities:

 

? Performs trade work on residential remodeling worksites in existing structures.

? Handles retail purchasing at vendor locations such as Home Depot, Plumbing distributors and other material distributors.

? Demonstrates knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, safety and applicable building codes.

? Demonstrates strong ability to install tile wet floor systems

? Demonstrates proficiency at blueprint reading. Demonstrates ability to do layout, framing, finishing of typical projects, including new homes, room additions, and remodeling.

? Demonstrates ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to employees, and others.

? Performs installation of wooden base board trim, casing crown molding, framing and hardware installation (door knobs, cabinet knobs, kick plates, door protectors and door stops). Performs installation of doors, windows, hand rails, grab bars, folding seats, bath accessories, mirrors and cabinets and other manufactured items.

? Has the ability to prepare for and install tile on walls and/or floors.

? Has basic plumbing and electrical knowledge and understanding.

? Understands and uses a wide range of power tools used for cutting shaping and installing finished wood and plastic products.

? Responsible for proper job site preparations.

? Sets up a job site with a safe effective work area.

? Protects all other surfaces in an existing home with tarps and plastic as required.

? Demonstrates understanding of and ability to perform tasks involving caulking, glues, mastics and wood fillers properly as per manufacture specifications.

? Warehouse and inventory management and job material staging. Receive some deliveries at warehouse.



Competencies:

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE Must have a minimum of three years in all phases of residential construction with focus on carpentry, flooring and tile wet floor systems

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to pass background check(s). Knowledge of mixing and pouring construction material (concrete, sand, grout etc.) Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and method Able to work in a team Able to read instructions and blueprints when needed
